- The provincial review of the Peel District School Board examined “systemic discrimination, specifically anti-Black racism; human resources practices; board leadership; and governance issues.
- Dr. Carl James at York University has done extensive research on anti-Black racism and on the over-representation of Black students who are streamed into Applied courses in Ontario’s high schools. He has written a number of reports including a recent report for the Royal Society of Canada: The crisis of anti-Black racism in schools persists across generations
- Dr. Nicole West-Burns is the Director of School Services with the Centre for Urban Schooling at OISE. Read her 2015 report, Exploring Critical Consciousness in Toronto’s Urban Classrooms: A Critical Practitioner Inquiry Approach to Black Student Achievement.
- Karen Murray is the Centrally Assigned Principal – Equity, Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression with TDSB and leads a system-wide initiative that focuses on Black Student Success and Excellence. She is one of “100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women” for 2020.
- Alison Gaymes San Vicente is the Centrally Assigned Principal for Principal Coaching, School Improvement with TDSB and has authored numerous reports on equity and justice, including “Our Schools, Ourselves – Community Watch: Marginal At Best, A Narrative on Streaming in Public Education.”
- Dr. Gillian Parekh, Robert S. Brown and Samuel Zheng, examine data from the TDSB in a new report, Learning Skills, System Equity, and Implicit Bias Within Ontario, Canada.
