In the spring of 2019, the Ministry of Education announced significant changes to education funding and policy.

The changes included:

• cuts to funding for class size so that it would be based on a ratio of 28 students per secondary school teacher – up from 22 to 1.
• changes to funding for grades 4 to 8, so that it would be based on a ratio of 24.5 students per elementary school teacher – up from 23.84.
• mandating that students take 4 courses by e-Learning in order to graduate.
• withholding the Local Priorities Fund

Since the spring, some changes to the announcements have been made.
