Public Education in a Changing World:
Redesigning Education
Participants will use a “foresight process” in this hands-on workshop to explore what a future-ready public education system might look like in Ontario.
Speakers:
Lorraine is a strategist and social systems designer working in the space between innovation, design, and policy development. She has a Master of Design from OCAD University, where her research focused on opportunities for developing change through foresight in the Ontario education system. She is a highly creative and curious designer, who is adept at translating complex information into effective and engaging communications. Lorraine has over 20 years of design experience to support human-centred innovation and the development of organizational change. Lorraine has worked with a spectrum of large enterprise and grassroots organizations, both non-profit and commercial – with clients such as Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), OMERS, UNICEF Canada, and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Lorraine has deep roots in education and design, having worked for 5 years in communications and design for the District School Board of Niagara, prior to spending time as a social systems designer and consultant with Overlap Associates in Kitchener. She designed and supported the launch of OCAD U CO, the executive education arm of OCAD University, and has just launched Make + Change Consulting – where change is supported through co-design and collaborative work.
Currently, Lorraine leads innovation and design engagements to help people understand how deep empathy and connection to human needs underpins the delivery of effective experiences, and to bring the value of design to the implementation of real change for people and their organizations.
