Parent Involvement Committees:
Supporting links between Ontario's school boards and Ontario's parents
Parent Involvement Committees (PICs) and Comités de participation des parents (CPPs) are board-level advisory committees in Ontario’s school boards. They have been part of Ontario’s publicly funded school system since 2005, and mandatory under Ontario’s Parent Engagement Policy since 2011. In 2015, People for Education – working with Parents partenaires en éducation and an advisory group of PIC/CPP members – conducted a survey to find out more about the work of PICs/CPPs.
The survey asked about committee membership and structure, goals and activities, communication, and funding. The report also looks at how PIC/CPPs support parent engagement, and examines the advantages and disadvantages of board-level parent groups.
